Two Palms Gallery & Silkscreen Studio
Two Palms Gallery was established in 2013 by Evelyn Day Lasry to deal primarily with works created by Two Palms Press, founded by David Lasry in 1994. The gallery provides a pristine, well-lighted neutral space to display the works of art that are created in the adjacent silkscreen studio as well as the original Two Palms Press space, also designed by RPSA. The combination of halogen and florescent lighting balances the natural daylight that only floods the gallery in the morning hours. New wide-plank oak flooring domesticates the space. The silkscreen studio is a riot of functional design in contrast to the serene gallery.
Despite the simple and clean appearance of the gallery, the project was a complex design project that included detailed coordination of multiple building systems. Much of the success of this project is attributed to the teamwork established between me, the owner, contractors, artists, equipment manufacturer’s, and mechanical, electrical, plumbing and sprinkler engineers.
