Green Building Competition for New York City
This award winning design proposes a much needed alternative approach to Park Avenue while still maintaining its green nature. In a city where land development opportunities are reaching their maximum, this site has the potential to house over 960 new residents in a unique urban context. Situated above the train tunnels, this design utilizes existing infrastructure to improve energy efficiency. This development demonstrates the possibilities of creating living spaces with small ecological footprints within dense urban fabrics.
This design received an honorable mention in the 2006 The Green Building Competition, a joint United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and New York City Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) competition that sought cross disciplinary concept projects that promote sustainable development.
